There’s a pro-creationism, anti-science movie called Expelled, in which a number of prominent scientists were conned into providing interviews by the producers describing a very different and more balanced movie. One of these scientists, PZ Myers, tried to attend a screening and was turned away on instructions from the producers, but there’s a twist. To see why this was as about a perfect own goal as can be, read his account of the evening.

In case anyone has missed the news, Kent “Dr Dino” Hovind has been found guilty of tax evasion and is in prison awaiting sentencing. This is very good news.

I do feel sorry for all his victims who have given him thousands of dollars over the years and swallowed his line in creationist claptrap. What’s worse some of them won’t even now realise that he was a conman, a crook and a liar and will see his conviction as part of the liberal-atheist conspiracy.

Closer to home, for the benefit of everyone who hasn’t already asked, yes I did get the dinosaur stickers in yersterday’s Guardian.

I was in the process of editing some comments I’d made elsewhere into a post on the fandom phenomenon of OTP (One True Pairing) when a thought popped into my head that made me laugh and decide to scrap the whole thing.

I wonder what OTP discussions in Big Love fandom are like?
