Unfortunately one of the side effects of this universe side slip (which I also appear to have experienced) is that it’s now proving more difficult to manage my world cup expectations. Going into the tournament being crap, and scraping through the group stages helped keep my expectations low, as well as the fact we were playing the Aussies in the QF who were clearly better than us.
Unfortunately, we’ve now gone and beat them, leaving me thinking “well, if we can beat them, we shouldn’t be scared of France, and then all we need to do is win one more game after that…”
