If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Sergei Rakhmaninov.
I lived in the early Twentieth Century and was well known for my compositional, conducting, and piano skills, yet I am melancholy despite this talent. My famous works include my nearly-impossible piano concerti.
Last night Lettice and I started sorting out the book mountains and have produced several bags full of books to go to eBay or charity shops. Some of the books I’m getting rid of are amongst those that I’ve entered into LibraryThing. What should I do about them?
Delete them from LT? Add a new tag saying that I’ve disposed of them? If I do the latter, I could also start adding, with a relevant tag, books I borrow from friends or libraries. This (without the tags) is what Lettice is doing, adding books on a read rather than owned basis, but up to now I’ve been cataloguing everything I own and adding ratings as I read them.
So, should a virtual library be just a catalogue of a real library, or should it be something more? I’m leaning towards the something more.
If you’re planning to be in London at some time during the next two months, have a look at VisitLondon.com/Festivals ‘cos there’s all sorts of stuff going on and ‘cos we’re rather happy with our sparkly little calendar.
In other news, I got a promotion at work today. So I’m a bit chuffed.
Quid pro quo? Sorry mate don’t know what that means. (hides GCSE Latin certificate)
[Update] – I don’t believe it. I get the address of the web site wrong after working on it all last week. Shoot me now.
Now, I like most of what I’ve heard by The Ramones but I never really got into them or bought any albums or made any sort of effort to correct this defficiency until recently. Thanks to the magic of bittorrent I downloaded a bundle of 28 albums. That’s a lot of music. Too much music to get my head round really. So I’m appealing for help. Where should I start, what are the best tracks, the best albums?
I was in the process of editing some comments I’d made elsewhere into a post on the fandom phenomenon of OTP (One True Pairing) when a thought popped into my head that made me laugh and decide to scrap the whole thing.
I wonder what OTP discussions in Big Love fandom are like?
Those of you who aren’t rabid fanboys/girls may not be aware that the BBC have posted some publicity shots for next year’s season of Doctor Who, and the first hints about what to expect storywise (spoilers in the press release, obviously, but anyone who counts the following picture as spoiler will just have to get over it).
Fandom, being the lovely, tolerant, open minded, bunch of folks that they are, have gone into one of their periodic meltdowns, complaining about everything from Martha’s hairstyle to the TARDIS looking a bit grey. That blue suit is a bit nasty, though.
