So I was idly surfing Live Journals with ‘Balliol’ listed as an interest when I stumbled upon a report that The JCR has voted to ban smoking and disaffiliate from the NUS.

Now I know that the student body will have a complete turnover every few years, and that 2006 isn’t 1993 in so many ways, but it’s still a bit of a shock. My memories of Balliol JCR are so strong and so frozen in time that I just can’t make the leap to the place where kids who were still in primary school when I was there are now shaping the place in their own image.
