I tried running chkdsk as suggested by the Windows error message. But that was as useless as it normally is. Then I tried running the iPod Updated program as suggested by the Apple help pages. That failed when it encountered a write error on the flash memory drive.
I then tried to take the iPod to Apple Store to get a replacement but there were queues to join the queues and the whole cult-like atmosphere of that place freaked me out.
So I contacted Apple to mail the iPod in for exchange. I have it sitting here in a USP package waiting for me to phone up USP and arrange a collection date.
I guess you probably didn’t want to hear all that. If you have the same problem then either the iPod Updater will be able to reformat your iPod or you’ll need to replace the iPod.
BTW, your URL seems to be unreachable at the moment.
‘All you need to do is run ChkDsk from the command prompt with the iPod drive name and the /f switch. For example, my iPod appears in Windows explorer as drive K:
To fix go to Start, Run and type the following without the square brackets [chkdsk K: /f].
That’ll sort it.’ ,said ipod3000 - juat about to try it on mine…
How did you end up solving this problem….I am having the same error….
