Very True Things
“He talks to himself sometimes because he’s the only one who understands what he’s saying.”

Borrowed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from my brother and read it yesterday. Someone’s ticking all the boxes from their Joseph Campbell checklist aren’t they?

Rewritten for my true love and myself:

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Twelve bloggers blogging,
eleven weavers weaving,
ten doctors dancing,
nine knitters knitting,
eight chavs a-brawling,
seven pirates puzzling,
six beers a-brewing,
five dino-saurs;
four top gear dolls,
three chocolate bars,
two spring rolls
and a weasel in a pink tree.

I was going to a verse a day but decided, that as I’d probably forget, to do it all now.

A very merry Christmas to everyone, especially to Andy and Clare and their twin babies, Alfie and Audrey, who came home from hospital yestetday. As Andy said in his text message: “Best Xmas ever :-)”

See after eight o’clock for reviews and squee…

A trip to the in-laws, where, prompted by that James May programme, pink_weasel’s father and brother have fetched their railway setup from the loft and then made expeditions to buy a new baseboard and various bits and pieces. Meanwhile, Lettice’s Mustang is coming together on the kitchen table.

And there’s a bag with a reindeer with a squeeky nose. And I’m wondering whether it can still squeek after I’ve taken a stanley knife to it.

(Ooo, a pre-xmas holby car crash. That’s a surpise then.)

Hey, tomorrow’s Christmas. Blimey.

Discussion last night about the new Doctor Who with someone who is a sci-fi geek but not a long term DW fan. Now we all know that the Cybermen came first but are they better?

Opinions please.

… would still be the Swiss Re building (and have you see the trailer for the Christmas Doctor Who?).

But, what about that other famous glass building in London - the GLA headquarters? In the eight months I’ve been working next door I’ve heard a number of nicknames for it but, unlike the case of the Gherkin, no one name has stuck.

  • Helmet
  • Snail
  • Beehive
  • Bubble
  • Testicle

What’s your choice?

(Personally I think it looks like some anime robot egg thing just starting its transformation into a killer robot, with a little bit of the annoying cute robot from The Black Hole thrown in as well.)

Just back form work christmas party. Boat trip on Thames. Then restaurant - good food but small portions, lots of wine. Tomorrow will be urgh. Paul’s theory about cracker pulling was proved right 75% of the time. I got a rubber duck from secret santa. Tired, must sleep.

  21. What do you want for Christmas this year?
    A pay rise.

I think that my work colleagues know a bit too much about myself and pink_weasel. One of them just recommended dawn of the knitted dead.

Party in Battersea last night. It seems that everyone in the world keeps a blog now. Much discussion of Möbius strips (with some very wrong conclusions) and TV sci-fi and knitting and knee surgery. Good time.

Off to the supermarket now for Christmas supplies. Eek.

Oh dear, that’s almost embarrassingly good. And I spotted errors in some of the questions.

Okay, no more showing off from me tonight. Mmm, mulled wine, let’s kill some brain cells - it seems I have too many anyway.
