Very True Things
“He talks to himself sometimes because he’s the only one who understands what he’s saying.”

It seems that I’ve reached the age where people who were more or less contemporaries at university are starting to make bigger names for themselves on the national stage.

Kitty Ussher (two years ahead of me at Balliol) has been elected MP for Burnley.

Dominic Sandbrook (one year below me at Balliol) received a rather unfavourable book review in the Guardian yesterday. The problem is whether Dom can ever match his breakthrough earlier work – Antebellum Parasexuality.

  1. [...] [Update] - I just remembered that whilst I was in Foyles I noticed a stocky, balding chap staring at me as he walked past. Just after he left the store I realised that this was almost certainly Dom Sandbrook, whom I have mentioned before on this blog. Gosh, he has a Wikipedia entry, and I wonder whether if anyone I know was responsible for the ‘vandalism’ shown in the revision history. No, scrap that I don’t wonder “whether”, I wonder “which”.
