Very True Things
“He talks to himself sometimes because he’s the only one who understands what he’s saying.”

People who are much cleverer, wittier and more insightful than me have written much about the large gay presence within Doctor Who fandom. And there’s every indication that the new series isn’t going to dent that following – let’s not forget that the new series producer, Russell T Davies, is the man behind the [insert long list of superlatives] Queer as Folk. That’s a most unfortunate shot but yeah, I agree with everything you say. Every episode seems to get some kind of reference in to gay life, more often outrageous than subtle. Only this week, Captain Jack referenced Rose’s bottom and a soldier nearby thought he was talking about HIS bottom and said, ‘Steady on, chap. Time and a place.’ To which Captain Jack pointed out the error but went on to say yes, his soldier friend did have a lovely bottom as well. Very, very funny.

Having seen the sort of homophobic lowlifes (for instance the poster “Fairplay” on rec.arts.drwho) that have crawled out of the woodwork and posted drivel about the “Gay Agenda” in the new Who I somewhat regret making this post.

Here’s looking forward to Captain Jack making a move on the Doctor…
… and slightly surprised that no such story has appeared on A Teaspoon And An Open Mind yet, some on people you’ve had nearly two whole days!
