I’ve installed the script from the Weblog Tools Collection which should automagically post my Word Press posts to my Live Journal blog as well.
The trailers for ITV’s Distant Shores made not very subtle allusions to Doctor Who, All Creatures Great and Small and A Very Peculiar Practice – three very succesful programs starring Peter Davison. Fair enough, as he’s also the star of Distant Shores; but as all three were on the BBC surely it’s just a little bit cheeky? Plus they all date from the 1980s.
The show plays on nostalgia for Davison’s earlier role – before the end of the first series he had his arm up a cow’s backside. Ah, that brings back memories.
Distant Shores is a classic example of the “fish out of water” genre with a big city Doctor (sometimes a different profession but often a Doctor – see Northern Exposure and Doc Hollywood for US examples) getting in touch with his emotions and his fellow men in a rural setting. Fair enough, it’s one of the classics but didn’t ITV just do the same thing with Doc Martin?

I have no idea what prune frenzy is but Lettice claims to be experiencing it right now.

… we may have found a wedding venue. Lettice has checked it out and loves it. I’m having a look on Sunday. With luck the search is over and we can fix the date. Then we have, oh, four million other things to sort out.
Go and visit Mucho Mucho Poodle and take a small peek into the madness with which I live.
First four deadpool lists are up. Expecting four more (fingers crossed) within the next week or two (fingers really crossed).
[Update January 5th 2005] – and now there are five lists. Three to go.
Just done my tax return online (what? a full four weeks before the deadline? surely not!) and it looks like I’m owed some money. Not a surprise – 2003/04 was a lot less profitable for me than 2002/03, so obviously I’ve paid too much on account – but it’s still nice to see the figures come out in my favour at the end of the form.
